Whey Buns
- 250 Gram wheat flour
- 20 Gram yeast
- 125 Mililitre whey
- 1 Teaspoon salt
- butter
- Add the flour in a bowl keep 2 tablespoons aside. Mix the two tablespoons of flour with the yeast, salt and whey. Beat until foamy.
- Make a mould in your flour and add the fluid into the mould. Cover with flour and knead to a smooth dough. If it gets too dry add some more whey.
- Form into a ball and leave covered at room temperature for about 20 minutes. Knead from time to time during the rest.
- Split the dough into 6 - 8 even parts. Knead on a flour covered surface and form into small buns. Pre heat oven to 200 deg. Celsius and butter a baking tray.
- Put the buns onto a warm tea towel covered with flour and let raise for approx 15 minutes.
- Brush the tops of the buns with a bit of water and cut them cross wise. You can also sprinkle poppy seed, rolled oats, sesame etc onto them. Put the buns onto buttered baking tray and bake for 20 - 25 minutes until light brown.
Special tip: if you put a oven proof bowl or pot with water into the oven while pre heating it the buns will become light and fluffy!
We found that these were nothing special, but did eat them all at once while they were still hot!
